This has been on my mind and I'd like everyone's thoughts about it.

As we're all aware, Ian Flynn unfortunately has this disturbing mentality to write the characters HIS WAY, even if goes completely against their authentic personality.

Here's a couple of recent examples.

1. Mina Mongoose viciously attacking Nicole with her music, and then angrily lashing out at Sally when confronted about it.

2. Sonic acting like a heartless jackass(even more than he usually does)

3. Geoffrey's backstory being completely rewritten just to make his whole Ixis wizard thing possible.

4. Sally's contrived roboticization/weaponization.

5. Elias cowering out in 224 just so Naugus would become king.

And these are just the icing on the cake of contrived moments.

So my question I'd like to everyone's thoughts on is, why do you think Ian chooses to intentionally warp the characters to fit his stupid stories rather than play to their strengths?

If I had to take a guess... he's secretly a power hungry fanboy.

I'm going to be frank here. I haven't seen one Sonic writer modify so many characters to his liking as this one has, even if the changes make no sense.  Just about everyone that he's allowed to change, they've been warped in one way or another, and it's mostly not been for the better either

You know, if a writer has to change that much of past writings to be content, he has serious control issues.

Oh yes, here's another question I'd like to ask now that I just thought about it. Why is it the fans don't seem to care he's shattered past continuity so recklessly? Do they even care about their integrity, or are they just wanting to be entertained?

I'm sadly thinking the latter unfortunately... :disbelief:

So yea, that's my thoughts. What are yours?

The Sonic comic book is now canonical fan-fiction. As far as I'm concerned.

1. It was explained that Naugus was using his magic to make the entire city fearful. There was a legitimate reason for her acting out of character because she was being influenced by an outside force.

2. I expected Sonic to be a "heartless jackass" after everything that's happened recently. It's not that he's a heartless jackass persay, but he has had a lot happen to him recently and I feel that he's cracking under the pressure. I honestly expected him to snap (and it may still happen) and have a stint where he was almost Scourge-like.

3. I wasn't around for Geoffrey's original run, but even so I can agree that came out of left field and is a MAJOR retcon.

4. Contrived roboticization of Sally...we'll have to see where this one goes. I think it's tied into your second point of Sonic being a jackass, but we'll have to see where exactly it goes for me to decide if I feel it's contrived or if it serves an ultimate purpose. I feel it's just another thing to push Sonic to his breaking point myself.

5. Elias was being strategic. I don't remember the exact details and I'm not home now to double check, but if memory serves, Naugus had politically rangled himself into the position legitimately. Yes, we all know it's a plow and plot, but truly horrible people use the system against us even in the real world to make themselves untouchable. Elias never truly wanted the throne anyhow and he knew that if Naugus wanted to keep up the charade he'd have to work with the council which would keep the people safe for the time being. It was a strategic retreat so he could come up with a plan of alternate attack.

I've had a similar expression of RAEG at I(diot)an Flynn in my current journal for several months now.

Personally, I think the only reason why the fanbase appears apathetic to Ian's shitstorm of crimes against canon-ity is because, until one of us ("us" meaning one of the members of the fanbase who remains loyal to the pre-Ianpocalypse state of the series) is able to:

- Pull an "Anonymous" in a major StH forum,
- Rally a horde of fanbase members, and
- Proceed to crush Ian with floods of critical letters indicating how much shit he's thrown at the fan with the series

...then there's not much we can do to stop Ian's joyride of denaturing the series to begin with.

Dude, we have fucking tried that.

Even if ONE person were call call him out for his shit, his heavily deluded and defensive fanbase will ATTACK you, and ARGUE with you, telling you that you are wrong, etc.

I'm not sure you've really considered all the implications of what I suggested. I suggested that someone amass a horde of fanbase members who are all loyal to the storyline before Ian began fucking it up. A HORDE... AS IN "AT LEAST FIFTY PEOPLE, PREFERABLY 100 OR MORE". I'm talking about a group with a number of participants similar to the average number of people who take part in the DDoS attacks that Anonymous is known for.

Do you really think that Ian's fanbase would have even a prayer of effectively attacking that many critics all at once?

If even ONE of them started pulling their typical "attack critics by shitting on the keyboard" routine, the only thing the horde of critics would need to do is gang up on them with attacks on the arguments they use to defend Ian. You should know that on the Internet, only idiots try to keep fighting when they're being sniped at with comments from multiple people. We even have a name for such idiots-- they're called "troll bait".

Even if by some chance, Ian's fanbase is more or less retarded enough to keep trying to attack a group of critics that big, there would still be a Plan B available:

Do you know the what best way is of dealing with unreasonable, rabid, small-brained fangirls on the internet, such as the ones that compose Ian's fanbase?

IGNORE THEM. Just act like they aren't even there, and continue pressing down on Ian for his shit. Eventually, some of the (relatively) more intelligent ones will realize they're attacking a brick wall and give up.

Others, better yet, will keep manically firing attacking comments at the critics, and will likely grow more and more frustrated and infuriated by continuing to be ignored.

Not only will this make them appear more and more immature (thus providing any trolls in the critic group with ammunition to mock them
with, and further derail any appearance of legitimacy or intelligence they might've had), but it might also impair their ability to think rationally, making their attempts to attack critics look pathetically feeble.

TL;DR
1) Get an army of Ian's critics together, and send a flood of criticism at Ian Flynn
2) Gang-rape the arguments and attacks of Ian's fans by pointing out their flaws in multiple comments
3) If that fails, just ignore the rabid little fangirls
4) Use their subsequent displays of immaturity to troll their asses into insanity
5) Press the attack on Ian for fucking up a comic we used to love until he showed up
6) ????
7) PROFIT!!!!!!
8) Achieve great justice.

We dont have enough supporters yet, but since Ian's story is bombing, we will have enough within the next few months.
